Students find out and fill in fun facts about a state they've selected. On page one, students pinpoint their favorite state on a map of all 50, design a postage stamp and create postcards. The center spread becomes a kind of travel brochure showing the state flag, important information, famous people, history, early inhabitants and explorers, landmarks and local foods. The back page features a travel log, space for a souvenir, a suitcase to pack and an original slogan about the state. Completing this poster gives students an opportunity to do some in-depth research on a state of their choice. It's a great way to learn about your own state or another, and it provides a format for sharing the information with classmates or other classes. (Good pen pal project.) Students can complete the poster in pairs or small groups or take it home and involve their family. (Great groundwork for a family vacation!) |
