A combination of adventure story and social satire, Twain's novel is considered by many to be the American Novel. Fleeing from an abusive father, Huckleberry Finn joins up with a runaway slave. Together the two fugitives float down the Mississippi River, encountering trouble at every turn and conflicts between societal expectations and their own inclinations and experiences.
