The Building Blocks Model. Use the Building-Blocks Literacy Model to introduce writing to kindergarten students! Early in the year, the children watch each day as the teacher writes a morning message or a journal entry. Later in the year, the children write and share each day, and they observe the teacher writing and thinking about writing during the daily mini-lesson. The focus of the mini-lessons changes as teachers proceed through the kindergarten year.
